Saturday 11th September – walk ***** – Around Felixstowe – sunny
periods.
A cloudy start with a hint of a westerly foiling breeze and I was looking
to go to Levington to make the most of the 3.20 high water but the wind
failed to arrive so again it was exercises in the garden while Mag spent
hours pottering in her lovely garden! After lunch with a bit of sun showing
we decided to go for a walk so drove down to the Manor to do one of our
favourite walks, the Landguard circuit taking a couple of containers to
pick blackberries. We soon found blackberry bushes absolutely jam packed
with berries, in fact we have never seen so many and quickly filled our
pots, we will have to go again! It was warm and the sweatshirt soon had to
go as we headed for the view point, the cafe is closed as they are having
trouble getting staff. Not many container ships in and the dredger was at
work getting ready for yet another huge container ship arriving early
tomorrow, the worlds largest called the Ever Ace, I don’t think I will
bother heading down as have seen enough container ships this year! The tide
is now very high and there is a good west wind blowing, typical being too
late for a sail now as we walk along the Orwell to the jetty and it is
lovely and quiet with not many people about:) Then back across the wooden
walkway and across the grass with several birds about including a pretty
wheatear picking and eating blackberries all the way:) Back home we prepare
a curry before having the usual cuppa and walk. With absolutely no wind in
the forecast for a week it could be time for a few bikes rides and
walks!
